Is it really necessary for those of us who can't afford to fly to London { or Australia soon }, rent a hotel room, and buy tickets to see the show to actually have seen the show to get an opinion on it?
Here's my opinion: No, you do not have to have seen the show in order to gain your own opinion on it.
I've done so much research on this show without having seen it that the only thing I haven't experienced now pretty much is watching the actors inhale and exhale right in front of me while they recite their lines or sing their songs.
What have I done to research the show so far you may ask? While this isn't an extensive list of everything I've done to research the show I will attempt to list at least a majority of the things I've done to research this show: I have read two { technically three depending on how you look at it } librettos so far { one that looks pretty official especially considering I Binged "official Love Never Dies libretto" AND another seemingly more detailed one that came with its own discussion thread if any inaccuracies came up. Not only is the second libretto the first version of Love Never Dies but it has the changes to Love Never Dies for the second version in annotations beside the lines that were in the first one but are now different in the second one and etc.. and it also includes pictures with it for some of the different scenes so not only can you read what's going on but you can also see what's going on. } I've listened to the entire soundtrack. I've viewed pictures from the show { both official pictures and uhm... bootleg? pictures lol }. I've seen videos of some of the performances. I've read tons of in depth reviews and took some of them { ones where the person went in determined to either hate the show OR love it no matter what happened in the show } with a grain of salt. I've seen the music videos and I've been on the website. I also read the book Love Never Dies was supposed to be based on { I even have my own copy that is the same edition as the one I rented at the library if you want a picture of it -__- }.I even saw Phantomreviewer's review of LND though I'm not one of those people who believe that whatever he says is law { obviously considering it seems like he likes the sequel and I personally do not }.
From my research I've gained the following opinion: the plot stinks { if the plot were different I could come to love the sequel but until then I'll have to hate it which stinks because I really wanted it to be good } and Beneath A Moonless Sky, Bathing Beauty, Beautiful, and Beauty Underneath are great if you need to throw up otherwise AVOID!!!!! Though I do like Till I Hear You Sing so long as I ignore that it's from LND and there are one or two other songs that aren't terribly vomit inducing. They aren't fabulous but their not terrible either. You have no idea how much I would like to be a Phan of this sequel but the plot stinks and until it improves I can't go running around lying and saying I like the sequel when the very thought of it makes me want to cry for a month. Oh BTW! Fleck is pretty stinking awesome { occasionally creepy I suppose but still awesome }. Too bad she had to be introduced in the sequel.
